Good-bye Zombie

I am celebrating today with fireworks, balloons and loud cheering! You won't hear or see any of it because it's all in my head, but it's happening. Today marks the end of Hub's night shift schedule at work. For the last looong three months he has worked nights and slept days. Kissed him good-bye at 8:30pm and then we traded places in bed at 6:30am. Ugh! I hated it.

He got used to it and did not complain or dislike it. But it has been like living with a zombie. Even when he was awake he was tired and taking naps, then eat dinner and back to work. I searched for a good  zombie picture online and only got tons of young bloody people smiling at the camera. What ever happened to a good old fashioned walking zombie?

I made the mistake of complaining to some single friends about being scared alone in my house at night. Oops! Received no sympathy at all. But I honestly had no idea how much security I get from having a husband beside me. This summer I have checked the locks on windows and doors repeatedly and the weird sounds that a house makes in the night had me imagining calling 911 under my covers, and wondering how I would see the numbers without my glasses. (not terribly conducive to a peaceful night's sleep.)

Yes, I'm a wimp but we survived the crazy schedule with great appreciation for people who work nights for years. I have not had to wear earplugs for the last three months, now I'm looking forward to hearing some snoring tonight. :)  Love you Honey!

*Did you skip to the asterisk or read the whole blog to see if I would explain the weird pic? This is the photo that came up when I entered the word, "tired". Odd indeed. "Tired" get it?

** AUTHOR UPDATE: That pic is not Hubs and looks NOTHING like him.    That better Honey?

  1. Hahaha! So true! I also feel safer having my husband at home every day. I'm glad your situation was only temporary. God bless!

  2. Funny that you complained to your single friends and got no sympathy! I guess you wouldn't! Also yeah the "tired" pic is funny. I'm glad you explained it because after I read what you said about zombies I looked at the pic again and didn't get it...

  3. Tired-*chortle* I used to work nights and then days and nights at the same job, so I can relate. I'm happy for both of you!

  4. I have to admit when I first saw the picture w/o reading your first paragraph, I wasn't too sure I wanted to read this. But then I looked closer and realized what you were writing about, and I was hooked. So happy for you and hubs...and also glad that you don't have zombies walking around your house or "tired" funny looking men. Happy that you made it through this season w/o a serious nighttime problem...God was watching over you and hubs...anyway, happy for all concerned. I guess I'm just happy. LOL! Good story. Funny picture. Smiling.

  5. Glad he's out of the rank of Zombii's.

  6. Well, you survived that experience. Intact. What's next?

    Blessings and Bear hugs.

    1. Well Rob, what's next is Hubs going back to day schedule, I'm starting to bring in a little more $$ with my writing recently and we keep listening for God's next move.
