Hubs is Acting Kinda Shady

Don't you think Hubs does a good job as a shade tree? We enjoyed a hot walk in the near by park yesterday and Layla dislikes being in the sun or heat for very long, so after running all over the park for an hour, she did the best she could at finding some shade for a bit. When we got back to the house she gulped water forever and plopped herself down in a dark hallway.

These lovely moments are tinged with guilt while so many people are suffering horrible loss as the storms pass through whole states, leaving paths of destruction behind. I know my self-imposed guilt does nothing to help them, and that can lead to a downward spiral that even blocks my ability to pray for the suffering. So little, against so much. But doing the little is better than doing the zero.

Life is a bit different around here lately as the old saying about the empty-nest never staying empty has come to pass, at least for a time. I am uncomfortable with disclosing too much personal info on my kids. I do not want to embarrass them or cause them to feel they cannot trust me as a blogging mom. I doubt Rocker Son will read this post, but I ask that you don't mention this in the comments, thanks. They are still a couple, just taking a little break, and my old-fashioned mind is doing its best to just shut-up and love them both. (But oh my goodness, some interesting questions are arising, such as; do I now hide all the pretty new guest towels now that he is using the "Guest Bathroom"? And I am already hiding some of my food treats! Just like the "good-old-days")

On another much happier note....I have some fun writing news to tell you about. BUT, I'm not going to! Haha! ...............I will tell you all the details on Friday of this week when my new little adventure goes live. That way you can click on over and see it for yourself as soon as I announce it to you.

Come back and see me on Friday for good writing news and hopefully the TV News will be talking about the end of the stormy forecasts.

    1. He gave me some wonderful dark chocolate for Mother's Day and he often brings home some great wines, so it's pretty bad that I am hiding my pop-tarts, huh?

  2. Looking forward to your good news on Friday. I know how you feel...we have been so blessed and we see those who are suffering so much and there is so little we can do about it. We can pray. We can give what we can. We can weep with those who weep, but life goes on. We have our own little storms in life that we have to tend to. God gives us the grace we need as we need it. And yes, it's ok to hide the pop tarts and put away the good hand towels. You will be able to get them back out again eventually, but in the meantime, treasure the moments you have together.
Yes, hubs is a shady character, but in a very good way! LOL

  3. We were on the same wavelengths with our posts today, Susie. Mine, A Thought Grows, has a similar theme!

Often times when I walk into the mts. with my dog I find he'll be annoyingly underfoot. Then I realize he's trying to walk in my shadow! Nice of hubby to be shady. ;)

  4. Well, that all sounds exciting ! I love reading your blog so will be no trouble to pop back tomorrow. Black dogs do seem to feel the heat more- my poodle trevor is silver/back and tires very easily in the heat, seeking out shade. Lisa x

    1. Yes, I think it is because she is black. You are in Australia and tomorrow is Friday for you, I forgot about that, I am still in Wednesday watching the Modern Family finale.

  6. I've been there, Son came home from college and eventually found a job that worked into a promotion and transfer.(8 years later.) Gone from home for 18 months, the company was sold to another parent company and closed it's doors. Returned home "for a while", (translation: nine years) I cried when he had to come home when that company closed its doors. His successive jobs were short term or difficult to work. He found a good job that is 600 miles away from home. I miss him. He will be here late tomorrow night for his vacation.
