Our Overflow

This verse at the beginning of the 45th Psalm is part of a song written by or for a director of music. (It is believed.) Writing songs or "compositions" about The King; God.

I love the reminder to us writers that the words we pen reveal what is innermost in our hearts and minds. The "good theme" is HIM.

Our only real job is to keep the path between ourselves and HIM open and free-flowing, so that the "overflow", our written words, will be sweet and honest and inspiring to those who read them.

  1. Very well said! I thank you for pointing me to this verse today as well. It is a reminder that what we do here has a much higher purpose than just to fill some pages of a blog with stuff that will make you smile or laugh, or even cry...it is a message that reaches up to God Himself, and actually flows down from God to and through us before it even reaches our readers. May we always remember that calling! It is a noble calling. I love the fact that we are in it "together"!

  2. This was one of my favorite aspects of Julia Cameron's book The Artist's Way. She really emphasizes and believes we are a conduit of God's words. I love that and wish I felt that way more often.

  3. Hi Dear! You really must read The Artist's Way. It is a wonderful, supportive book.

Anyhoo, this is a great reminder to quiet the self and listen to that still, small voice. Until I do that, nothing of value is going to be pouring out of my mouth, that is for sure! Writing is not for sissies! We make so many errors, fish around for just the right words, miss the mark, but in the end, we call it 'fun'. What a ride :)

    Happy Friday,
    Ceil
