RJD - A Sad News Day

Random Journal Day- Go Add your link

I sat in the living room sipping my first cup of coffee and getting ready to say good-bye to the Hubs as he took a quick look online before heading out to work. He gasped aloud at what he saw and I asked, "What's wrong, forget to pay a bill?". "No, CM passed away early this morning!" One of our 2002-2003 ministry school students had been struggling with his health for the last few years following many heart surgeries and complications. He was just 1 day younger than my eldest son. The terrible news sent me into old photos and journals of our teaching days not so long ago.

I found the journal I kept the year this student was in our small school. He was a quiet young man, but I have a feeling that the shyness I saw was mostly due to my presence. He was probably pretty funny and relaxed around guys his age. I remember his love for the Bible and how he told us that he read it all the time, long before he knew God for himself. I asked him what made him do that and he quietly answered that it was the good thing in his life at the time.

Now he is with the author of that one good thing and his heart is healed and healthy. I pray for his family and friends that have a tough and painful journey to walk through in the coming days, months and years. May they sense the closeness of The Father who loves them and understands their pain.

  7. So shocking when someone so young dies, sending hugs and thinking of those who mourn their loss, thanking Him for the good thing in CM's life.

  8. Oh, Susie, my heart is sad with you for him...so young and close to your son's age. It reminds me of this saying "“I shall pass this way but once; any good that I can do or any kindness I can show to any human being; let me do it now. Let me not defer nor neglect it, for I shall not pass this way again.” You and your hubby served in this ministry and were part of his faith fabric somehow...sometimes this is all we can hope, that for the time we cross paths with others ...that we are just there, however God has us. Love you, my friend. Prayers sent with along for all with yours...

  9. Susie: It is hard to understand why a young person has to leave his or her earthly family and friends. It sounds as if you will see him again. In the interim, he is in your cloud of witnesses, watching from heaven.
