Book Clubbing!

This month I am going to be rereading my own book. It almost feels like a homework assignment...but fun! And kinda weird! Will I find myself highlighting passages and turning down the corners on certain pages like I usually do in books that I love? We will see.

My happy reason for this self assigned homework is that a local book club full of people I've never met is reading my book, WALKING BUTTERFLY!!! So excited!!! (I don't care that the use of multiple exclamation points is very bad form. This news deserves it!!!)

After the book club finishes reading my book, I will attend their meeting...Where they will discuss it!! Ack and double ack!

The surprising bit for me is that I am actually looking forward to it very much. It is scary, but to be honest, talking about my book is my next favorite thing after talking about my grandson. So I am thrilled to have a whole new crowd to talk to and to hear their impressions of the words I sent out into the world a year ago.

One of my wonderful new friends at my job recommended my book to her church's book club and I feel so honored. Walking Butterfly is a nonfiction story of my intimate relationship with God, so sitting in a room full of readers is going to be a pretty vulnerable place to be. I'm sure the nerves will come as the time gets closer, but you guys, I am so happy to be in a position to show women how much they are loved by God. I cannot wait! I have been praying for these 12 women since I first agreed to meet with them. God has stuff for them way beyond my book and I just hope I can be a worthy message carrier for Him. Pray for me?

Thanks Gang, I love you!

  1. That is SO exciting!!! I am really happy for you...on several different levels...first, that this book club has decided to read YOUR book is really really wonderful. And second, that you will actually get to MEET this group of ladies and share your heart with them as they share how they were blessed by you with you! It may seem like this has taken a long time, but that is all apart of the journey of faith...God is working behind the scenes...and this may open up even more opportunities for you to meet with OTHER book clubs, etc., etc. So thrilled for you!!! :)

    1. Thank you Pam. You are so right, it is another step on a journey that began before I even knew there was a journey happening! The friend who recommended me is one of my colleagues at my preschool job. One step led to another. Comes back to trusting Him, as usual. Ha!

  2. Susie, I am so happy for you. This could be the boost you need to having other book clubs and women's groups read your book.

    1. Yep right on time. A year ago this would have freaked me out. I feel differently about myself, a bit stronger and less wobbly. Haha! Thanks so much for all of your pep talks and prayers Dawn. You made a difference for me in more ways than you know. I love you and miss you even though we've never met IRL.
